Shipping, returns & refunds
Gaffney Fine Press sells physical, made-to-order hand-bound books from Washington, Missouri. This page covers shipping, returns, refunds, cancellations, and how we handle disputes.

Customer service
For order questions, shipping updates, returns, refunds, or disputes, email orders@gaffneypress.com. We are based in Washington, Missouri, USA. Please include your order email and Stripe receipt or order reference when you write. You can also check status anytime at /order-status with your order reference and checkout email (no account required).
Shipping
We ship worldwide. Shipping rates and available carriers are calculated at checkout based on your address. Press numbered runs and Library preorders are made to order; production and shipping typically take 4–8 weeks at present. We review every copy before it leaves the bench and email when your order ships.
International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by the destination country. Those charges are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in our product price or shipping rate unless stated at checkout.
Cancellation policy
Because each book is made to order, cancellation windows are limited:
- You may cancel for a full refund if you email orders@gaffneypress.com within 24 hours of purchase and we have not yet started production.
- Once production has begun (materials cut, text block prepared, or binding started), the order cannot be cancelled and payment is non-refundable except as described under returns and refunds below.
- If we must cancel an order (for example, we cannot fulfill it), we will refund you in full to the original payment method.
Return policy
Hand-bound books are custom physical goods. We do not accept returns for change of mind, incorrect title selection, or buyer preference after the book has been made.
If your book arrives damaged in transit, defective, or clearly not as described:
- Email orders@gaffneypress.com within 14 days of delivery with your order details and clear photos of the issue and packaging.
- We will confirm next steps. Depending on the issue, we may repair, replace, or refund.
- Do not discard the packaging until we have reviewed your claim. If a return shipment is required, we will provide instructions; approved defect or damage returns are at our expense.
Refund and dispute policy
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days after we confirm the refund. Shipping charges are refunded only when we cancel the order or when the return is due to our error, damage in transit, or a product not as described.
Craft guarantees: numbered Press runs carry our lifetime craft guarantee (if the binding fails under ordinary use, we repair or replace it for the life of the book.). Library and Studio bindings carry our five-year craft guarantee (if the binding fails under ordinary use within five years, we repair or replace it.). Guarantee claims are handled by repair or replacement, not as a general money-back guarantee for change of mind.
If you have a billing or fulfillment dispute, contact us first at orders@gaffneypress.com. We will work in good faith to resolve the issue. Opening a chargeback with your bank without contacting us first may delay resolution; we respond to Stripe dispute requests with order and shipping records.
Legal and shipping restrictions
We sell physical books and bookbinding commissions. We do not sell digital downloads as the primary product. We reserve the right to decline or cancel orders that we cannot legally ship to a destination, or that violate applicable law. Buyers are responsible for complying with local import rules.
